Social Impact
Salford Primary Care Together is a community interest company dedicated to supporting General Practice and enhancing healthcare across Salford. We are an accredited Social Enterprise Organisation through Social Enterprise UK. Our social impact is far-reaching, with projects that affect the general public, Primary Care Networks, and our individual members. Our social impact aim is tied to our vision:
Healthy Neighbourhoods. Happy Staff.
This year we have initiated projects intended to widen our social impact and give back to the people of Salford, here we highlight three:
This year we have begun our City Wide Practice Closure and Education Sessions, a project that further strengthens integrated care through collaboration. Our objective was to support all GP practices in Salford to close for half a day each month to allow for essential education and training for both clinical and non-clinical staff. Additionally, this initiative allows us to provide bespoke face-to-face training sessions tailored to all staff groups once a quarter.
During these closures, SPCT ensures appropriate patient care coverage across all participating practices to facilitate participation while maintaining patient wellbeing.
This has greatly benefitted all staff across practices in Salford, allowing for robust training and ensuring the betterment of healthcare across Salford.
Practice Closures & Education Sessions
Over the past 7 practice closures:

Domiciliary Phlebotomy Service
In April 2025 we began our City Wide Domiciliary Phlebotomy Service, a project that assists practices by lessening their load. Our objective was to provide and develop a domiciliary phlebotomy service for all GP Practices and Primary Care Networks offering convenient blood-taking services designed for housebound patients and patients that have disabilities who find it challenging to visit their local surgery.
This involves practices emailing to book patients in with our team, who then undertake the home visits. Additionally, if a patient is acutely unwell during the home visit, or if their blood pressure is in an unsafe range, they will be referred to the Clinical Assessment Service for review.
This has benefitted a vulnerable population within Salford allowing more people to access meaningful healthcare in a more inclusive way.
Over the past 7 months:

Salford GP Provider Board
This year, SPCT provided funding to the Salford GP Provider Board to develop a new strategy for healthcare in Salford. The aim was to advance the capability of Salford GP Provider Board on behalf of its collective membership to achieve significant gains citywide for our sector. This would look to increase income and efficiency thereby bringing benefit to practices, PCNs and SPCT. The plan will include opportunities around system wide working in designing and delivering pathways and services alongside the opportunities to procure contracts alongside supporting Salford GPs. Most importantly it will benefit patients by improving their journey through services being delivered closer to their home. This was realised through the appointment of a Project Management Officer to determine the immediate, short term and longer-term priorities for Salford GP Providers.
Presently, the strategy has been drafted and is with stakeholders for feedback pending approval.
